Sera Silicate Si03 Test Kit
Regular price $34.89Makes it easy to monitor the silicate level in fresh and marine water.
Silicate (SiO3) supports the growth of diatoms in marine and freshwater aquariums. The sera silicate-Test allows monitoring the silicate level reliably and easily.

Sera Nitrite NO2 Test Kit
Regular price $29.89Makes it easy to monitor the nitrite level in fresh and marine water
Nitrite (NO2) is among the most toxic substances for fish in aquariums. It can enrich in the water in case of insufficient biological filtration.
The sera NO2-Test allows monitoring the nitrite level in fresh and marine water easily and reliably.
The toxic ammonia is converted by beneficial bacteria in the aquarium to nitrite, which is also toxic to the fish. Fortunately, in an established aquarium that has completely cycled, other bacteria convert nitrite into harmless nitrate. However, in new aquariums where the bacteria population hasn't grown adequately to detoxify the wastes from the fish in the aquarium, ammonia can build up to toxic levels quickly.
Nitrite poisoning follows closely on the heels of elevated ammonia as a major killer of aquarium fish. Anytime ammonia levels are elevated, elevated nitrite will soon follow. To avoid nitrite poisoning, test the water when setting up a new tank, when adding new fish to an established tank, when the filter fails due to power or mechanical failure, and when medicating sick fish.
In case of severe nitrite problems, sera Toxivec quickly provide help.
Sufficient for approx. 75 measurements.

Sera gH-Test
Regular price $22.49Makes it easy to monitor the total hardness
For approx. 420°dGH.
GH is the general hardness of the water. Humans can notice difference in water GH when they drink from the tap compared to filtered water. Tap water can be hard, which essentially means it is full of dissolved minerals. Soft water is at the other end of the spectrum and is devoid of minerals.
Fish species do have preference to hard or soft water. Generally most species will be tolerable to a range of hardness as long as it doesn't approach extremely soft or hard values. GH can be very important when attempting to breed fish or replicating natural habitats. Generally as a rule of thumb, the higher the pH the higher the GH. You will find that most fish species either prefer acidic and soft waters or alkaline and harder water.
For creating soft water we recommend adding sera blackwater aquatan or filtering through sera super peat.

Sera kH-Test
Regular price $22.49Makes it easy to monitor the carbonate hardness in fresh and salt water
For approx. 390°dKH.
KH is one of the most overlooked and least understood elements of aquarium chemistry. KH plays a vital role in keeping your water parameters stable. Without it, your pH would bounce all over the place, stressing your fish and causing all kinds of problems.
KH is carbonate hardness and refers to how much carbonate is in the water. This becomes even more relevant when injecting CO2 into the aquarium. KH also provides a neat way to be able to estimate how much dissolved CO2 is in the aquarium at a point in time. Carbonate hardness also determines buffering capacity of the aquarium water.
A higher KH will also stop your pH slowly dropping over time.
Generally, as KH rises so does pH. But don’t let this scare you away from maintaining a healthy KH.
Having a stable pH that is a little high is much better than a pH that swings up and down all the time.
In saltwater tanks, KH serves a second purpose. Corals use carbonates to build their exoskeletons. If you are creating a reef tank, you’ll need to watch that KH!
